UKRAINIAN PEACE COUNCIL AND WORLD INFORMATION TRANSFER SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION

On June 20, 2026, the Ukrainian Peace Council and the American non-governmental organization World Information Transfer (WIT) (New York City, USA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, which establishes the foundation for the development of long-term partnership between the two organisations.

World Information Transfer is a long-standing international partner of the Ukrainian Peace Council and actively supports initiatives to strengthen peace, international security, environmental protection, and humanitarian values.

A special role in the development of cooperation between the organisations belongs to the Chair of WIT, Dr. Christina Durbak. At her initiative, on November 6, 2024, an international seminar titled “Environmental Security During War and Military Conflicts” was held at the United Nations Headquarters. During the seminar, the Ukrainian Peace Council presented to the international community the results of research on the large-scale environmental consequences of Russian military aggression against Ukraine.

Dr. Christina Durbak also actively participated in the international roundtable “40th Anniversary of the Chernobyl Tragedy: Lessons of the Past and Challenges of Nuclear Safety Today,” organized by the Ukrainian Peace Council on April 21, 2026, at the facilities of NNEGC “Energoatom.” She also took part in the event held as part of the Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, titled “Nuclear Safety in Ukraine During War: Ensuring the Safety of Nuclear Facilities in the Context of Marking the 40th Anniversary of the Chernobyl Disaster,” which took place on April 27–28, 2026, at the United Nations Headquarters.

In recognition of Dr. Christina Durbak’s significant personal contribution to the development of international dialogue, peacemaking efforts, support for democratic and humanitarian values, and her consistent support for Ukraine, on Ukraine’s Independence Day — August 24, 2025 — the Ukrainian Peace Council awarded her the honorary distinction “Order of Peace.”

The signed Memorandum aims to create a framework for systematic cooperation between the Parties in the fields of humanitarian and peacemaking diplomacy, raising international awareness of the humanitarian, environmental, and social consequences of the war, promoting public health preservation, supporting affected communities, and the post-war recovery of Ukraine based on the principles of sustainable development and human dignity.

An important negotiating and communication role in the preparation and signing of the Memorandum was performed by the Advisor to the Chairman of the Ukrainian Peace Council, Dr. Natalia Vynnyk.

The Ukrainian Peace Council expresses its gratitude to the leadership and staff of World Information Transfer for their many years of support for Ukraine and is confident that the new stage of partnership will contribute to the implementation of important international humanitarian, environmental, and educational initiatives in the interests of peace, security, and sustainable development.
